catch up

ok, so for the last week i have been busy and out of town and dealing with a bunch of stuff thats come up. So, in saying that i am catching  up by posting a bunch of photos to get me back up to date :)
so hopefully you will enjoying these, some are from the local parks and some random junk :P

Red Shoe

Found a pair of old shoes today, and they have this studded ball part of the way down the heel. So i got a shot of them before they got packed away again :)

Now this one is not a new photo but this was from now 4 years ago, and this photo was believed to have been lost forever. I was so happy that this was found tucked away in a book i had to post it :)

Closer look

I ended up cleaning the crap out of my place and was scrambling to find something to photograph today, and so i decied i was going to take a photo from a different POV for the Blue Disco.

Blue Disco

My hubby bought this at a local LC with a bottle of Absolute Vodka inside :) the top screws off and then it pops open to reveal the bottle inside :P and you can hang a string off the top to hang it and really make a Blue Disco happen! :)

Not bad for a very first atempt at doping photos like these, and i must say....holy crap am i in love with this style of photogrraphy. I never knew it was so easy ( with the right directions of course :)) and that the effect was so raw. This was taken at a Model and photographer meet up in downtown Nanaimo today, at a amazing studio (totally jealous  that i dont have a studio like that :P) and when you go out the back roof door, it goes out onto the roof of Perkins Coffee, and this was shoot from up there. The studio owner has the best veiw of downtown Nanaimo that i have ever seen without having to pay 100's of dolloars for a top floor room at the Dorchestor or Coast Bastion Hotels....

Lucky 13?....or maybe not :P (day 13)

So 13 being my lucky number and the day after my birthday, and a "semi" nice day when it wasn't raining should be a day for some great photos right? :P well sadly it didn't seem like that. He was lucky and stayed mostly "dry" and i got soaked to the point where i stopped snapping photos for the day....and i normally like being wet in the rain...guess just not today :)

Dubble sided art

This is a statue found downtown Nanaimo, that on one side there's this design style and on the other side its all grey, black and whites. this side to me stands out some more :) plus i like green :)

Found a new trail today :) sadly the tides were in so the bottom of the park was totally flooded...oh well next time!

My hubbys REALLY old cell phone that has lastest through the wirestest and "would-break-any-other-phone" kinda situations....but it seems my 20 month can break it AND still talk on it :P

A New Model

I got the chance to work with a  wonderful new model, in Nanaimo down at the swy-a-lana waterfront park. Out of the shoots this series along this wall were my faves.

got to spend a day at the seaside, just walking along the shore, it was wonderful. very cold and windy, but was worth it:)

When things go wrong...(day8)

This is what can happen when the light gets to hot, somewhere. At the time everything looked good until i saw this. But i found this kind of amusing and decided that this was going to be today's picture :) so go ahead and laugh if you need to i don't mind.

Sleeping Beauty (day 7)

today was a hard day to find a photo that i liked and was willing to post. I told myself i was only going to take one more photo and that was it, and if it didn't turn out, well fine then I would chose the next best thing. My son (pictured above) fell asleep after a it of a car ride home and  was just so unbelievably beautiful i had to snap another "last photo" This is what came of that.  It really reminds me of a web site that I came across a day or so ago kicking around on some photographer sites/blog. Its called " Now i Lay me Down To Sleep".

As a parent myself, this struck me hard, because i was a lucky one to be able to hold and play with my child while other parents out there only have a few moments of life to cherish.  This group of volunteers in the US go out with a moments notice to take photographs of newborn that sadly didn't make it. They provide everything free of charge and help the family come to terms of their loss and help them through this painful time.  At the time most parents don't even know about this program, and its the nurses and support staff that call out the photographers to the parents and provide this service.  Below is the link to their site. Please take a minute to read over what they do, and how the process works. Sadly this program is only offered int eh US. I would like to see something like this in Canada to help those who love and cherish their newborn, and instead of going home with their child, they go home empty handed and confused.

Right place, Right time (day 4)

Today i was at the right place at the right time and got to watch a BC Ferry dock at the Departure Bay Terminal.  While it was a nice walk...it was a wet walk....and cold for my son, who by the time the ferry was doced was no longer happy about being out int he rain and cold :P:

Wet Holy (day 3)

I got the chance to take a walk into a different part of town today, found a few new trails and parks i didn't know about and a got a few neat looks at the ferry terminals. Along the way I got caught up in some holy along one of the beach trails, and had to grab a shot.  Hope you enjoy the shot :).

Looking Up (day 2)

well for today's photo i was out walking, heard a noise, looked up and saw this. It was taken only a few minutes ago. Reminds me of Christmas Cards :P

A New Years Day (day 1)

I took this from sticking my head out of my living room window, because it was pouring so badly. These trees on a normal day are so pretty and very green. but, that's not the case today as you can see.
